Jif Most Creative Peanut Butter Sandwich Contest

What you need to do: Create an original peanut butter sandwich. Entries will be judged on creativity, taste, nutrition, how nice they look and how easy they are to make.

Who can enter: Kids ages 6 to 12 (parents can help)

Who sponsors the contest: Jif, the peanut butter maker

What you can win: $25,000 college fund plus $10,000 for educational products (to mark the contest’s 10th anniversary)

National Geographic Photography Contest

What you need to do: Take and submit a photograph in one of four categories: people, animals, scenery and humor.

Who can enter: Kids ages 6 to 14

Who sponsors the contest: National Geographic

What you can win: One winner in each category will win a digital camera and National Geographic books. A grand prize winner chosen from the four category winners gets a trip for four to Costa Rica.

Deadline: Oct. 31

Pets Add Life Poetry Contest

What you need to do: Write an original poem about your pet and why it’s special to you.

Who can enter: Children in third through eighth grade. Teachers can also enter on behalf of their students.

Who sponsors the contest: American Pet Products Association

What you can win: Six students nationally (one from each grade) will win a $250 gift certificate for pet products plus have their poems published. Six winning classrooms (entries submitted by teachers) will win a $1,000 scholarship to spend on pet-related education.
