Many people travel during the summer. (Readers prove that by sending us photos of places they go each year for our Summer of KidsPost feature.)

But you don’t have to leave your house to travel. You can visit amazing places in books, places that look nothing like your town or even your planet. So the KidsPost Summer Book Club is going “Out of This World.” We hope you will join us!

The book club kicks off June 15, but before we start, we need your help. Click on the template at left (or use anything that is 2 by 5 inches), design a bookmark that illustrates the “Out of This World” theme. The winning design will be printed on the bookmarks that will be given to club members.

Here are the details:

1. Create an original design in keeping with the “Out of This World” theme. (A “world” does not have to be another planet.) You can use crayons, pencils, markers, paints or anything else. You can also design your bookmark on a computer. A simple design done in bold colors will probably look best.

2. The contest is open to kids between the ages of 5 and 13. Entries must include the child’s name, age, home town, phone number and the written permission of a parent or guardian. The winner’s name, age and home town will appear on the final bookmark.

3. Have a parent fill out our form and attach your design or mail it to KidsPost, The Washington Post, 1150 15th St. NW, Washington, D.C. 20071.

4. All entries must be received no later than 5 p.m. on June 1. The winner will be announced in the June 15 edition of KidsPost.
