If you don’t find warrior frogs appealing, how about a frog princess? In “Frogged” by Vivian Vande Velde, Imogene is a 12-year-old princess who doesn’t feel particularly good or pretty. But when a talking frog asks for a kiss to break a witch’s spell, she agrees, thinking she’s doing a good deed. The spell transfers to Imogene, whose thoughts and voice are stuck in an amphibian body. She wants to return to her old self but not if she has to turn someone else into a frog. Before she can figure out another solution, Imogene is frognapped and starts to believe she will never make it home.
