How much do you know know about the presidents? Do you know how many there have been? Can you name them? In order? Backward? If you answered “yes” to those questions, maybe you won’t find “The Smithsonian Book of Presidential Trivia” fascinating. But if you’re stumped by whether it was Millard Fillmore or Franklin Pierce who was our 13th president, then we think you’ll love the book, which is full of fascinating information — not just about the presidents who have lived at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, the address of the White House, but also their wives, children — and even their pets! (For example, Laddy Boy, an Airedale terrier who was President Warren G. Harding’s dog, was even more famous in his day than the Obamas’ Portuguese water dog Bo is today.)
In the spirit of this inaugural weekend, we’ve put together a presidential trivia qui z based on questions from the book. The first five kids between the ages of 6 and 14 who send us an e-mail after 7 a.m. Saturday, January 19, and get all the answers correct will receive a copy of the book and a KidsPost pencil . Send your answers, along with your full name, age, home town and a note from a parent or guardian giving you permission to enter the contest to kidspost@ washpost.com. Please put “presidential trivia quiz” in the subject line of your e-mail.
