Make a card for the panda parents

This picture was taken when Tai Shan, the panda born at the National Zoo in 2005, was just three weeks old. His mother, Mei Xiang, just gave birth to another giant panda cub on Sunday night. (Reuters)

Congratulate the panda parents!

KidsPost is inviting our readers to make a drawing congratulating Mei Xiang and Tian Tian on the birth of their giant panda cub.

We’ll publish some of our favorite drawings and send them all to the National Zoo so the keepers will know how happy Washington-area kids are about the panda.

You can ask an adult to e-mail your drawing (saved as a jpg attachment) to Please type “panda drawing” in the subject line.

You also can mail your drawing to KidsPost, The Washington Post, 1150 15th Street NW, Washington, D.C. 20071.

All drawings must include the child’s full name, age, home town and a phone number where we can reach your parents in case we have questions. We must also have a note from a parent, guardian or teacher saying we have permission to publish the child’s drawing.
