The U.S. Postal Service is releasing new first-class stamps featuring a few of Pixar’s most popular characters, including Lightning McQueen and Mater from “Cars” and Remy the rat and Linguini from “Ratatouille.” (U.S. Postal Service)

Wall•E, Buzz and Lightning are coming soon to a mailbox near you.

Starting Friday the United States Postal Service will be selling five new stamps featuring some of the most beloved characters from movies made by Pixar Animation Studios and Walt Disney.

The five stamps (a first-class stamp sells for 44 cents these days) feature:

● Lightning McQueen and Mater from “Cars”

● Remy the rat and Linguini from “Ratatouille”

● Buzz Lightyear and two aliens from “Toy Story”

● Carl Fredricksen and Dug from “Up”

● Wall•E the robot from “Wall•E”

The Postal Service is calling the stamps its “Send a Hello” series. The stamps follow the “Art of Disney series which was sold from 2004 to 2008. Because the Pixar characters are “unlikely heroes who explore the bonds of friendship and family . . . the stamps [are meant to] encourage people to connect with their loved ones through the mail,” Roy Betts, a Postal Service spokesman told us.

The Postal Service apparently expects LOTS of people to do just that: It’s printing 200 million of the stamps!
