The employment landscape in the Washington metropolitan area is largely an attractive one, with a satisfied workforce that embraces technological change. Technology is largely seen to have positive effects on work life, but more than six in 10 full-time workers say they check their e-mail when out of the office at least sometimes, with four in 10 doing this often.

Source: This Washington Post poll was conducted by telephone Sept. 10-16, 2012, among a random sample of 1,152 adult residents of the Washington metro area, including users of conventional cellphones. Results for the full survey have a margin of sampling error of plus or minus 3.5 percentage points.
