Orchids of Latin America Family Day . The “Orchids of Latin America” exhibit provides the inspiration for crafts, face painting and activities from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of Natural History in the District, 10th St. and Constitution Ave. NW. Reptile and Amphibian Day at the National Aquarium . Crafts, curator talks and feedings introduce visitors to the reptiles and amphibians that call the aquarium home, from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday at the National Aquarium, 1401 Constitution Ave. NW in the District. The event is included in the price of admission to the aquarium, which is $9.95 for adults; $8.95 for military and seniors; $4.95 for children ages 3-11; and free for children under 3. Sunday, Feb. 24

Maple Sugar Festival . Check out tapped trees and find out how people turn the sap into a pancake topping at the festival from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at Brookside Nature Center, 1400 Glenallan Ave., Wheaton. $5. For information call 301-962-1480.
