From Mr. Potato Head to the Nintendo Wii, readers shared the iconic toys from their childhood.
Ask a friend or colleague about their weekend, what they had for lunch yesterda, or what time that important meeting is tomorrow and chances are you will get a blank stare, or at least a delayed response, while they search their brains for the answer, But ask about a favorite childhood toy and the memory is right there, clear and immediate. Whether it’s the distinct orange, brown and yellow of a Weebles Old West Ranch House, the whirring sound of their first Hula Hoop, or the smell of a fresh jar of Play-Doh, those memories are easy to access and as comfortable as a well-worn pair of slippers. We asked readers to tell us which toys evoke special memories and connections for them. Here are some of their favorites. Bill O'Leary/The Washington Post; chest courtesy of Good Wood Buy Photo
