Boxer misses the party

Even after a disappointing loss Saturday night, Amir Khan graciously showed up to his official after-party — only to find that it was already over! But such is the life of a boxer: Khan’s trip from the convention center, where he fought Lamont Peterson, was delayed by the requisite trip to the emergency room to drain his swollen ear. After a 21 / 2-hour stay at GW Hospital (where, small world, he ran into Peterson and bantered cordially, we’re told), he rolled up to Eden nightclub at 3:30 a.m., well after closing time. He apologized to the staff still there cleaning up and explained that he didn’t want to hide from his fans just because he lost.
