Bradley Cooper joined the ranks of George Clooney and Brad Pitt this week, receiving the title of “Sexiest Man Alive” from People magazine.
The 36-year-old actor who starred in “The Hangover” movies, was bestowed the honor this week, after strict scrutiny by the magazine, Celebritology blogger Jen Chaney jokes:
“The magazine revealed its selection — which, as we all know, is determined using hard data and indisputable scientific facts — on Wednesday morning.”
Chaney guessed that in addition to the actor’s undeniably good looks, his foreign language skills gave him an edge over other candidates for the title.
“It was that French thing that pushed him over the top, wasn’t it? I’m kind of thinking it was,” Chaney said.
Cooper dated actress Renee Zellweger for two years, the Associated Press reports, but has recently been linked to Jennifer Lopez. Although the actor says he doesn’t see himself as a ladies man, Roxanne Roberts and Amy Argetsinger of The Reliable Source determined that he’s at the “white-hot center of Hollywood’s incestuous dating matrix.”
According to The Reliable Source matrix, Cooper is only one degree away from Ryan Gosling (Olivia Wilde provides that link), who many bloggers and other fans thought would take the title, including a few at Celebritology:
Look, Cooper is a perfectly fine male celebrity — more than fine, according to one Celebritologist who shall remain nameless, as well as reader Bawlmer51, who assessed this news by noting in a comment that “My lady parts approve of this action.”
Still, this is clearly Gosling’s year. If you had to put money on who would be named this year’s Sexiest Man Alive — and clearly such important matters provide excellent reasons to gamble — Gosling seemed like your best bet.
Buzzfeed is leading a charge of Ryan Gosling supporters, who are gathering outside the magazine’s New York headquarters to show their support for the “Notebook” star, said Sarah Anne Hughes of Celebritology:
On Thursday afternoon, Gosling supporters occupied People magazine’s New York headquarters, chanting, “One, two, three, four/ Bradley Cooper is a bore/ Five, six, seven eight/Ryan Gosling's super great.” [Buzzfeed] provided protesters with a Gosling mask.
“Bring signs, pictures, and your voice. We will be heard!” the Facebook invite to the protest declares. “RYAN GOSLING WAS ROBBED!!!!!!”
