After an online vote, Popcorn the turkey wins a pardon from President Obama, but competitor Caramel will also be spared.
Nov. 27, 2013 Popcorn the turkey is pardoned during the annual National Thanksgiving Turkey Pardoning Ceremony on the North Portico of the White House. The White House had set up a Web site for two turkeys, whom it had named Popcorn and Caramel. The public was encouraged to vote on social media for #TeamPopcorn or #TeamCaramel, depending on which turkey looked like it deserved the title of “National Thanksgiving Turkey.” Caramel came in second but will also be spared.
