Each April, independent record stores pick a day to celebrate their continued existence. It’s an event that has become so popular that it can match in one day a store’s sales for the rest of the year.
April 17, 2013 Bill Daly, owner of Crooked Beat Records in Adams Morgan, is worn out after getting very little sleep while preparing for Record Store Day. Daly says he thinks that the event has gotten too big. He says he has inventoried as many albums for this one day as he would in a year. Record Store Day is April 20.
