Carrie Underwood won the video of the year award at Wednesday’s CMT Music Awards, in which country music videos are recognized:
“The good Lord has been very good to me — well, to all of us in this room — for a very long time,” Underwood told the crowd after the win.
Underwood — the top winner in CMT Awards history with 10 belt buckles, including four for video of the year — also is celebrating the opening of a Country Music Hall of Fame exhibit and five years with the Grand Ole Opry. She’ll close down the Country Music Association Festival on Sunday night. All of this comes less than two weeks after joining the Rolling Stones in Toronto on May 25 — the eighth anniversary of her win on “American Idol.”
Other winners included Miranda Lambert as well as Tyler Hubbard and Brian Kelley of the duo Florida Georgia Line.
Lambert and the duo both won two awards each. Emily Yahr writes that the best performance of the night was Darius Rucker’s: “Is anyone in the world ever having as much fun as Darius Rucker? The former Hootie and the Blowfish frontman cheerfully made a long walk from the top of a staircase to the stage, stopping to give fans hugs and greetings while never missing a note of ‘Wagon Wheel.’ ” Find a list of nominees and winners here.
