In the mountaintops of the Selkirk range in British Columbia, where it’s a helicopter ride to town, an alpine hiker finally unplugs.
After hours of hiking, internationally certified mountain guide Ruedi Beglinger walks back to the Mount Moloch Chalet in the Selkirk Mountain range, near Revelstoke, British Columbia. Beglinger has been leading alpine hiking, ski touring and ski mountaineering trips in the mountain range since 1980. In 1985, he acquired a permit to build a backcountry ski lodge and run tours in a swath of pristine range; he and his wife, Nicoline, now host groups and have exclusive use of 58 square miles in the mountain range.
