GETTING THERE

The Lincoln Highway Experience in Latrobe, Pa., is a good starting point for a drive along the Lincoln Highway. Latrobe is about 200 miles from Washington. Take Interstate 270 north to I-70 west to U.S. Route 30 west into Latrobe.

Tour the highway’s history via old-fashioned gas pumps, black-and-white photographs and road-inspired artwork. Currently free; call ahead to make sure museum staff is present. A $4 admission fee, to include a copy of a driving guide to the highway, goes into effect in January.
