Getting there

Southwest offers nonstop service from BWI Marshall to Bradley International Airport in Windsor Locks, Conn., about 50 miles south of Deerfield, Mass., with rates starting at $140 round trip.

Kringle Candle

Candles everywhere, plus a Christmas store, a chocolate shop and an outdoor fire pit. Daily 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Yankee Candle

Village crammed with candles and a museum. Dip candles or mix your own jars. Friday-Monday 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Tuesday-Thursday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Historic Deerfield

Consortium of historic homes and the Flynt Center of Early New England Life. Houses reopen in April or by appointment. Flynt Center winter hours: weekends 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Winter admission $7.
