People of color have been decrying guns for years, she says

BOSTON — The rally in Boston included protesters of all ages, but the crowd was overwhelmingly white.

“People of color have felt powerless about a lot of issues, including this one,” said Megon Barrow, who came to Cambridge, Mass., from the Caribbean island of St. Vincent. She was watching the crowd with her 11-month-old daughter, Zoe. “This is her first protest. I brought her because this will have such an impact on her life.”

“People in inner cities are probably saying, ‘Well, hello, world. Our children have been dying of gun violence for years,’ ” she said.
