Trump’s motorcade takes longer route, avoiding Florida March

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — After leaving his golf club Saturday afternoon, President Trump rode in his motorcade as it took a longer, less direct route back to his Mar-a-Lago estate, where he is staying this weekend.

Trump’s typical route would have taken him by Dreher Park, the gathering point for West Palm Beach’s March for Our Lives demonstration against gun violence.

A White House spokesman did not immediately comment on the rationale for the longer route.

Tens of thousands of people are expected to gather in the nation’s capital Saturday for the March for Our Lives, an anti-gun-violence rally organized by survivors of the Feb. 14 school shooting in Parkland, Fla., that left 17 people dead.
