A 48-year-old Maryland man died Wednesday after his 2009 Hyundai Sonata veered off the road in the Laytonsville area of Montgomery County, struck a large tree and rolled over. Adam J. Gaudreau, of Mount Airy, was taken by helicopter to the Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore and died there of his injuries.

Gaudreau worked at the Nuclear Regulatory Commission. “Our thoughts are with Adam’s relatives as they deal with this tragic loss,” NRC spokesman Scott Burnell said.

Crash investigators on Wednesday were still piecing together exactly what happened. Preliminary findings show that about 8:30 a.m., Gaudreau was driving on Laytonsville Road prior to Hawkins Creamery Road when the car drifted off the road. No one else was in the car.
