Down the drain: N. Fourth St., 400 block, March 8. Responding to a call about a runaway Chihuahua, an animal control officer came upon the owners looking for their dog. Searching together, they could not find the animal. The officer called the person who reported the Chihuahua running loose and found out that the dog had fallen into a storm drain. The owners pried open a manhole cover and rescued their dog.
Uninvited guest: S. 36th St., 4300 block, March 9. Animal control captured a squirrel inside a home and released it outdoors.
On the wing: N. Ohio St., 3500 block, March 10. An animal control officer captured a cardinal that was trapped inside a garage and released it outside.
