Rooster on the run: Bruce St., 3900 block, Dec. 4. The Alexandria sheriff reported a rooster running loose near an apartment building. An animal control officer captured the bird.
Dog dies from trauma: N. Van Dorn St., 1400 block, Nov. 29. Responding to a report that a dog had allegedly been stabbed in the head by a machete, officials took a houseguest at a residence into custody. The dog was rushed to an animal hospital, where it was euthanized because of a severe brain injury.
