Alexandria man succumbs to injuries sustained in May crash

An 85-year-old Alexandria man has died from injuries sustained in a May car crash, Fairfax County police said Friday. He succumbed June 5.

Richard Pro was a passenger in a Pontiac Vibe that hit a Toyota Camry shortly after 2:30 p.m. on May 29 in Hybla Valley, police said. The Toyota was heading south on Richmond Highway and was attempting to make a left turn onto Sherwood Hall Lane when it was struck by the Pontiac.

The Pontiac was heading north on Richmond Highway at the time, police said. The 80-year-old driver and Pro were both transported to the hospital.

Speed and alcohol are not considered factors in the crash, which remains under investigation.
