American Dream poll: Methodology of Washington Post-Miller Center survey

This joint survey for The Washington Post and the Miller Center, a research institute at the University of Virginia, was produced by Capital Insight. The partners together developed, analyzed and paid for the survey, with each bearing sole responsibility for its editorial product. The poll was conducted Sept. 6 to 12 among a nationally representative random sample of 1,509 adults. Interviews were conducted on conventional and cellular telephones, and carried out by Abt-SRBI of New York. The margin of sampling error is plus or minus three percentage points. The project team from the Miller Center included Douglas A. Blackmon, director of public programs, and Jeffrey Chidester, director of policy programs and corporate secretary. The project team from The Post included Peyton M. Craighill, polling manager; Scott Clement, polling analyst; and Jon Cohen.
