The Occidental Grill & Seafood, a stately restaurant across from the White House, served a variety of buggy dishes on its patio Wednesday and helped the event’s sponsor raise about $6,000 for DC Central Kitchen.
Cups of crickets and grasshoppers await contestants in a bug-eating contest at Occidental Grill & Seafood in Northwest Washington. It’s all part of “Pestaurant,” a fundraiser for DC Central Kitchen sponsored by an international pest-control company, Rentokil, which is marking 85 years in business. A local Rentokil affiliate, J.C. Ehrlich, donated $5 to the kitchen for every bug eaten and $20 for each participant in the bug-eating competition. Linda Davidson/The Washington Post
