The bodies of three Fairfax roommates were found on the side of a Baltimore road Tuesday, two days after the young men were last seen, Maryland State police said Wednesday.

Police identified the men as Vignesh Ashokan, 23, Sharath Sudershanam, 24, and Moka Mallikarjun, 25. The three were heading home sometime after 1:30 a.m. Sunday from visiting friends in Cockeysville when the car they were in crashed in a wooded area along the ramp from southbound I-83 to the outer loop of I-695, police said.

Authorities said the cause of the crash is still under investigation but because of the extensive damage to the vehicle, a 2012 Volvo S60 driven by Mallikarjum, they believe speed was a factor. All three men, who were found after another driver reported evidence of a crash in the area, were pronounced dead at the scene.
