Two were in Carroll County and another occurred in Harford County.

The two most powerful in Maryland were in the Watersville area of Howard and in the Pleasant Hills area of Harford, where two injuries were reported.

Both were rated EF-1 , meaning winds were estimated at 86 to 110 mph.

A tornado in the Hampton, Va., area was estimated at 98 mph. A second Virginia tornado, near Petersburg, was estimated at 80 to 85 mph.

In Montgomery, two tornadoes touched down near Damascus and a third in the Countryside area, the Weather Service said. In Prince George’s, the tornado touched down in the Springdale area, east of Route 50 and the Capital Beltway.
