Alexandria man charged in armed robbery of letter carrier

Alexandria police have arrested and charged a 20-year-old who they say was part of a group that robbed a letter carrier last week, authorities said Thursday.

Gary Love III, of Alexandria, was arrested Tuesday and charged with robbery, said Crystal Nosal, an Alexandria police department spokeswoman. She said the investigation into the incident is ongoing, and detectives are still working to identify and charge two others believed to be involved.

The incident occurred on Jan. 15 in the 700 block of Fayette Street, when the letter carrier was on his rounds. Police said that three masked males robbed him at gunpoint, taking mail and his cell phone.
