Alexandria man killed in crash his vehicle crosses into oncoming traffic

An Alexandria man was killed in a traffic crash Tuesday night after his vehicle crossed into oncoming traffic and eventually collided with an electric utility pole, authorities said.

Daniel Kilcullen, 65, was headed south in the 700 block of S. Pickett Street in Alexandria when, according to police, his vehicle crossed the center line and struck several other vehicles and the pole. Police have not determined definitively why Kilcullen lost control of the vehicle, but they said they are exploring whether he might have had some type of medical emergency.

Kilcullen’s wife, a passenger in the car, was also taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said. No one else was hurt.
