Anne Arundel County police are investigating the Thursday morning killing of a gas station clerk in Hanover.

Authorities said the clerk, identified as 49-year-old Rajinder Kumar of Glen Burnie, was shot about 1 a.m. while working at an Exxon Mobil in the 7800 block of Ridge Road. The shooter then took an undetermined amount of cash.

The shooting was captured on the station’s surveillance video. Authorities said the shooter fled the scene in an unknown direction.

A gas station customer discovered the fatal shooting and robbery around 1:35 a.m., according to a department press release, and the station was closed Thursday morning. Authorities are calling the killing a homicide.
