Attempted sexual assault in DC near Chevy Chase Circle; man wielded knife

A knife-wielding man tried to sexually assault a woman Saturday night in upper Northwest Washington, D.C. police said.

They said the incident occurred about 11:30 p.m. near Chevy Chase Circle, in the area of Western Avenue and Oliver Street.

Police said the man tried to take off the woman’s clothing but she fled.

They described the suspect as a black man in his 30s was was tall and had dark skin. At the time of the incident, police said, he wore a dark hat, dark gloves, a white long sleeve button down shirt, and dark pants.

He was also wearing one black shoe and one white shoe.

Police asked anyone with information to call them at 202-727-9099.
