Body found after shooting is reported to Montgomery police; cause of death unknown

Someone was found dead in a residential section of Montgomery County late Monday after police went there in response to a report of a shooting, authorities said

The dead person was found after police were sent to the area of Laughlin Lane, in the Norbeck neighborhood, but police said it was not known whether the death resulted from a shooting. No information was immediately available about the person who died.

Police with flashlights were searching late Monday night in the area of Laughlin Lane and Norbeck Road, neighbors said.

They said officers began arriving in the area about 11 p.m., and one neighbor said that they appeared to be looking for tracks in the snow, which fell earlier Tuesday.

As of early Tuesday, police said they were describing the matter as a death investigation.
