Police identified on Thursday the second body found dead at a rowhouse in Shaw. Like the first, it was a resident of the house, they said.
The third of the three roommates who lived together in the rowhouse has been charged with killing the first roommate to be found dead. He has not been charged in the murder of the second.
On Thursday, police concluded that the remains of the man partially buried at the home were those of Delano Wingfield, 23. Wingfield was reported missing by his grandmother on June 3. He was found, beaten to death and partially buried in the backyard, on June 16.
At that point, police were already looking for clues in the murder of Leon Young, 22, who was found dead under an air mattress in the attic on June 13. At that point, police said, he had been dead for a week.
Jeffrey Bernard Neal, 21, was charged with the murder of Young.
Neal, also a roommate at the house on the 18oo block of Eighth Street NW, told police that Young had said he killed Wingfield.
Wingfield’s grandmother said earlier that the three young men were friends since high school, and a co-worker of Young’s said he frequently complained about problems with his roommates.
