Boy, 4, drowns at birthday party in Anne Arundel County; apparently fell in creek

A four-year-old boy drowned Saturday in Anne Arundel County after apparently wandering away from a birthday party and being found in a creek, authorities said.

The boy, identified as Jaden Dixon of Glen Burnie, died in what preliminary investigation indicated was a “tragic accident,” county police said.

According to police, the child, who was accompanied by a relative, was a guest at the birthday party being held in the front yard of a home on Marley Creek Drive.

At some point, police said, he got into the gated back yard and apparently made his way to a small pier near the creek. His absence was noted within three to five minutes, and he was then spotted floating in the creek, police said.

Guests jumped in and pulled him out, and CPR was administered. Paramedics took him to a hospital but he died shortly after arrival, police said.
