Pizza delivery is not the safest of occupations, but it is still a little surprising when on the edge of Capitol Hill someone grabs the merchandise and runs while the deliveryman gets paid with a punch in the face.

It was about 6:50 p..m. Thursday when this occurred, according to police, in the 1500 block of East Capitol Street, a rowhouse lined street about two blocks beyond the eastern boundary of the Capitol Hill historic district.

Police said the deliveryman showed up at the wrong address, but encountered several people on the street who told him that they had placed the order. Whereupon one of them socked him and another took custody of the pizza and headed at a rapid rate toward 16th Street.
