Police identify officer found dead in Southeast D.C. apartment

Authorities have identified the D.C. police officer found dead Saturday in an apartment in Southeast Washington, police said Sunday.

Johnny Jones, 56, was found dead about 3:15 p.m. Saturday in an apartment in the 2600 block of Martin Luther King Avenue SE, after he failed to show up for work, police said in a news release.

Police said there were no signs of trauma, indications of foul play or obvious unusual circumstances. Authorities were awaiting results of a medical examination to determine the cause of death.
