D.C. police identify fatal shooting victim as 19-year-old from Southeast Washington

A man who was fatally shot Wednesday afternoon blocks from the Anacostia Metro station has been identified as a 19-year-old from Southeast Washington, according to D.C. police.

Devon D. Parker was pronounced dead at a hospital shortly after the shooting occurred about 1:30 p.m. Police said Parker was shot in the street outside a shopping center in the 1400 block of Howard Road SE.

Police did not comment on a possible motive and said they had made no arrests. It was the District’s ninth slaying this year. A woman who lives in an apartment building overlooking the crime scene near the Stanton Shopping Plaza said she heard eight to ten shots.
