Deadly accident in Arlington kills 24-year-old man

Arlington County Police said a 24-year-old man was killed early Friday morning when a jeep hit the car he was in.

The accident occurred around 2 a.m. when a Jeep Wrangler that was heading eastbound on Lee Highway hit a car in the intersection of Lee Highway and Fort Myer Drive. Police said they did not immediately know if the man who was killed was the driver or a passenger in the car.

The three people involved were taken to area hospitals, where one person was pronounced dead. The driver of the Jeep suffered minor injuries. The condition of the other person in the car was not immediately known.

Police have not released the name of the man who was killed, pending the notification of his relatives.

Lee Highway was shut down for five hours and re-opened shortly after 7 a.m.
