Driver identified after killing 81-year-old

Montgomery County Police on Monday released the name of the person who was driving an SUV that struck and killed an 81-year-old woman in a shopping center parking lot in Potomac over the weekend.

Hyun Jeung, 43, of Germantown, was allegedly driving a 2009 Acura MDX through the Giant Food store parking lot on Sunday in the 7900 block of Tuckerman Lane when she hit Shirley Stearman, 81, of Potomac.

Police said Stearman had just parked her car and was walking toward the grocery store when she was struck by a vehicle that had made a left turn at the end of a parking aisle. Spearman was taken to Suburban Hospital where she later died, according to police.

The incident is still under investigation, and police officials said it is too early to know whether any charges will be filed.
