Earnest Jerome McWilliams was shot Jan. 21 and died Feb 22, D.C. police say

A man shot last month in Southeast Washington died of his injuries this weekend at a local hospital, authorities said.

Police found 33-year-old Earnest Jerome McWilliams suffering from gunshot wounds at about 2 a.m. on Jan. 21 in the 4500 block of Benning Road SE, according to a statement from D.C. police.

Fire and rescue crews took him to a local hospital in critical condition, police said. McWilliams, of Northeast, was pronounced dead Saturday.

Police are asking anyone with information about McWilliams’s death to call 202-727-9099 or text anonymous information to 50411.
