A Fairfax City man was killed Sunday when the sport-utility vehicle he was working on apparently rolled off its support stands and crushed him, police said.

The man was identified as Daniel Joseph Dorman, 45. Fairfax City police said they were summoned about 1:15 p.m. Sunday to Dorman’s home in the 4100 block of Burke Station Road. Officers found Dorman pinned beneath a 1998 Chevrolet Tahoe on which he apparently had been working.

Dorman was taken to Inova Fairfax Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
