Farouq Abdullahi, 18, of Alexandria, has been arrested and charged with malicious wounding in a stabbing that occurred Tuesday evening, police said.

The stabbing occurred about 7 p.m. in the 5400 block of N. Morgan Street, on Alexandria’s west side. The victim was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The victim, described as being in his late teens, was found with one or more wounds in his abdomen by officers who were called to the scene on a report of a fight, police said. The preliminary investigation indicates that two groups engaged in the altercation, but police say no other arrests are expected.

“There were other people there,” Alexandria police spokeswoman Ashley Hildebrandt said, “but in terms of actual charges, I think this is it.”
