A 53-year-old Capitol Heights man was killed in a hit-and-run incident on the Beltway in Maryland early Wednesday, creating lane closures and traffic delays in the area.
According to police, Douglas Edward Diggs was struck shortly after 3 a.m. on northbound I-495, after Landover Road/MD 202, in Prince George’s County. Police said Diggs was in a travel lane when he was hit.
The striking vehicle did not stay at the scene, police said. No vehicle or suspect information has been released.
The two right lanes of the Outer Loop were blocked by the investigation for about three hours. Drivers may encounter residual delays between Landover Road and Route 50 .
