The FBI on Tuesday released video showing a man walking down the hallway of a D.C. Holiday Inn hallway with the 8-year-old girl he is suspected of abducting.
Authorities said the video was taken Feb. 26, the day Relisha Rudd’s mother said she allowed her daughter to go home with 51-year-old Kahlil Malik Tatum. Police say Tatum has not returned the child, and both are being sought in a massive search up and down the East Coast.
D.C. police got involved March 19 after social workers became concerned that Relisha had not been to school. She lives with her mother at a homeless shelter in the old D.C. General Hospital.
Police on Monday released several new photos of Relisha and another one of Tatum.
The video was taken in a Holiday Inn Express in the 1900 block of Bladensburg Road NE. It shows Tatum walking toward a room, side by side with a tired looking Relisha, who shifts a white plastic bag from her left to right hands. She’s wearing a blue jacket with white stripes on the sleeves and pink boots. Tatum is carrying one bag. The video cuts off when they enter a room.
Tatum is charged in a warrant with killing his wife, Andrea Tatum, whose body was found Thursday in an Oxon Hill motel room. The couples’ two cars were abandoned in the parking lot. The death came just hours after police announced they were searching for Relisha and Tatum. No motive has been established.
D.C. police, along with the FBI and Prince George’s County police, have reported few leads to the public, though police in Richmond say they are on heightened alert. The FBI is asking people to watch the video and call 202-727-9099 if they have seen either Tatum or Relisha.
The FBI is offering a $25,000 reward for information leading to the location and return of Relisha. Separately, Prince George’s County police are offering a $25,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction in Andrea Tatum’s killing.
