A Forestville man died on Independence Day after he was hit by a car, authorities said.
Shortly after 9 p.m. on July 4, officers were called to Pennsylvania Avenue and Forestville Road after someone reported a crash, Prince George’s County police said Monday. When officers arrived, they found 63-year-old James Hughes lying critically injured on the side of the road.
Police said that a car had hit Hughes, who was sitting in the street. The driver had stayed with Hughes, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
It is unclear why Hughes was in the street, and the case is still under investigation, authorities said.
Police are asking people with information to call 301-731-4422.
