A Maryland State Police spokesman said the northbound vehicle in which the four men were riding veered off the right side of the highway, just north of Route 32, overturned and struck a tree about 8:26 a.m.
Three were taken to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center and were listed in critical but stable condition. The fourth man was flown to Maryland Shock Trauma and was listed in critical condition with life-threatening injuries.
The highway was closed for four hours at Route 32 while the investigation took place and police directed traffic around the crash scene.
