A 64-year-old lawyer and longtime Northern Virginia resident was killed earlier this month in a head-on car crash on one of the area’s major commuter routes, authorities said.
Michael A. Poling, was fatally injured about 4:45 p.m. July 2 in the northbound lanes of the George Washington Parkway, the U.S. Park Police said Friday.
A preliminary investigation indicated that a car that was headed south crossed the grass median and collided with Poling’s vehicle, about 21 / 2 miles north of the Key Bridge. The Park Police reported the death Friday and said it wanted to hear from witnesses.
In another deadly traffic incident, a man was found fatally injured in Prince George’s County late Thursday. He was injured after being thrown from a vehicle that had struck a utility pole, police said.
They said they were looking for the driver, who was “seen running from the car” after the 10:45 p.m. incident in the 16300 block of McKendree Road in the Brandywine area.
In a third traffic incident, a security officer was injured inside his guard shack when a car crashed into the structure Friday in the 3400 block of Curtis Drive in the Temple Hills area of Prince George’s, authorities said.
In another incident, a 10-year-old girl riding a bicycle was seriously injured late Friday afternoon in a collision with a vehicle on Tuckerman Lane and Kings Riding Way in the North Bethesda area.
