Prince George’s County authorities said a man was critically injured in Hyattsville on Tuesday night when a high-pressure device used during an air conditioner installation exploded.
Mark Brady, spokesman for Prince George’s County Fire/EMS, said the man was injured at 6 p.m. while working in a renovated house in the 4300 block of Hamilton Street.
Brady said the man, who is a technician or contractor in his 40s, was carrying the device when the canister exploded. He said the cause of the explosion is unclear.
Brady said the man critically injured his arm and abdomen in the explosion. He remained in the hospital Wednesday with injuries that were serious but not life threatening.
