Man, 22, shot dead in Northeast Washington

A 22-year-old man was shot and killed Monday night near the Maryland line in Northeast Washington, according to D.C. police.

Officer Araz Alali, a police spokesman, said the shooting occurred about 9:50 p.m. in the 5400 block of Nannie Helen Burroughs Ave. NE. He said Charles Melvin Parrish, of Northeast, was shot several times on the street near the Woodson Senior Recreation Center.

Alali said that Parrish was taken to an area hospital where he was pronounce dead. Police said they knew of no motives or suspect. The shooting occurred in the Burrville neighborhood.
