Authorities in Arlington County said they have arrested and charged a 48-year-old man who robbed a bank — while yawning — and then dropped some of the cash outside on the sidewalk.

Police said Keith Burke of Washington was arrested as he was leaving the Crystal City Metro stop on Thursday evening.

Surveillance cameras caught Burke allegedly holding up a TD bank branch Wednesday morning in the 3100 block of N. Wilson Boulevard in Clarendon. He passed a note to a bank teller saying he had a weapon. Authorities said no weapon was displayed. He also yawned while waiting in the branch.

Burke made off with an undisclosed amount of money on foot, police said. As he ran from the bank with cash tucked inside a bag and in his hands, Burke dropped some of the money — mostly $20 bills — on the sidewalk. Police said all the money was returned to authorities.

When he was arrested on Thursday, Burke had a similar holdup note on him, according to police in Arlington.
